Part-time Work of International Students


- Student visa (D-2) holders must obtain a prior permission to work part-time jobs

Application Eligibility

 - Student visa (D-2) holder meet the following conditions

 - GPA of C (2.0) or higher in the previous semester

 - A TOPIK score specified below

 - For English track courses, TOEFL 530/IELTS 5.5/TEPS 600 or higher is required. 

    (Students from countries whose native language is English are exempt from submission)

  • Score report for Korean language proficiency (TOPIK) 
  • A copy of business registration certificate 
  • A copy of standard labor contract 
  • A part-time work confirmation form (issued by designated team at BUFS)

Jobs that international students are allowed or not allowed to work part-time


- Allowed areas

  • Low-skilled labor for students are allowed
  • Excluding specialized fields Translation/Interpretation
  • Restaurant assistant
  • Office assistant
  • Office work assistant /Event assistant
  • Store salesmen in English-language villages or English-language camps/Tour guide assistant
  • Duty-free shop sales assistant


- Not allowed areas: 

  • Private tutoring 
  • Work at high-tech industrial parks or research institutes to secure technology security
  • Work that is against the social order and virtue
  • Construction
  • Manufacturing 
  • Work that is not appropriate for the student’s status


  An international student working part-time without permission shall be fined up to KRW 20 million or may be deported.
